This visa is a pre-entry permission for you to travel to and seek entry, into the Republic of Azerbaijan. The entry may be refused in the cases prescribed by the Migration Code of Republic of Azerbaijan. Electronic visa is not sticked in passport and must be presented with passport at the bordercontrol post. If the Electronic visa is not used within the period of validity, it becomes invalid. Please note that e-visa is issued on the basis of provided information in the e-visa application and if the information on a travel document does not match with the information on issued e-visa, then the e-visa is invalid. Please note that an applicant is responsible for information provided in e-visa application form.You must leave the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the e-visa that was used to enter the country (except in cases when the period of temporary stay in the country is extended or a temporary residence permit is issued by the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan). Foreigners or stateless persons temporarily staying in the Republic of Azerbaijan for more than 15 days have to register upon place of stay. For registration, the foreigner within 15 days after arrival in the country, has to apply via electronic services of the official website of the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, e-government portal and e-mail (qeydiyyat@migration.gov.az) or in-person to regional migration departments, or "ASAN service" centers. |
What Information Does an Azerbaijani E-Visa Include? A Complete Breakdown
An electronic visa (e-visa) for Azerbaijan is a fast and convenient way to get permission to enter the country without visiting an embassy or consulate. While the process is simple, the document itself includes specific details that are important for both travelers and border officials. Let's take a closer look at what exactly is shown on an Azerbaijani e-visa.
Header and Logo
At the very top, you'll see the official header: "Republic of Azerbaijan -- Electronic Visa." Next to it, you'll usually find the ASAN Visa logo, and sometimes the national emblem of Azerbaijan. These elements confirm that your document is authentic and officially issued.
Barcode or QR Code
Every e-visa features a barcode or QR code. This allows border officers to scan your visa quickly and verify your information in seconds, helping you get through immigration smoothly.
Important Dates
Your e-visa will display three key dates:
- Issue date - the day your visa was officially granted
- Valid from - the first day you're allowed to enter Azerbaijan
- Valid until - the last possible day to enter the country (usually up to 90 days from the issue date). However, your actual stay is typically limited to 30 days.
Visa Details
This section outlines:
- Type of visa: Electronic visa
- Number of entries: Usually single-entry
- Duration of stay: Up to 30 days in most cases
Purpose of Visit
You'll also see the reason for your trip stated clearly, such as:
- Tourism
- Business
- Education
- Other purposes
The purpose of your visit must match what you indicated during your application.
Personal Information
This section includes your essential personal details:
- Surname
- Given name(s)
- Citizenship
- Date of birth
- Place of birth
- Gender
Passport Information
Here you'll find:
- Type of passport (for example, ordinary passport)
- Passport number
- Passport expiry date
- Issuing authority (typically: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan)
Legal Notice
At the bottom of your e-visa, you'll usually find an important disclaimer stating:
"This visa is a pre-entry permission. Entry is subject to border control."
In other words, holding an e-visa does not automatically guarantee entry into Azerbaijan. Final permission to enter the country is always granted by border control officers upon your arrival.
An Azerbaijani e-visa makes visiting this beautiful country easier than ever. Just make sure to double-check all your information before traveling and keep your visa accessible when you arrive.

What’s Actually On There
Let’s walk through a real Azerbaijan visa example so you know what border officers check and what trips people up. The document’s structure is straightforward once you see it broken down.
Your PDF loads with the ASAN Visa logo and Azerbaijan’s coat of arms at the top. Visa structure shows a number that sits next to a QR code - looks something like AE104719919. Below that, your details, which spread across the page:
| Field | Example | What it means |
| Valid from/until | 12.01.2025 - 12.04.2025 | The window when you can enter |
| Duration of stay | 30 days | Max time after arrival |
| Number of entries | Single entry | One trip, that’s it |
| Purpose | Tourism | Why are you coming |
| Passport number | JE9895002 | Must match exactly |
Baku’s winter vibe plus proper mountain snow - that’s the move. January and February deliver peak ski conditions when the powder’s deepest and runs are perfect. Get your e-visa online before you fly, then hit the snow from December through February.
The validity window throws people off. Say it runs from January 12 to April 12 - you can arrive anytime in those 90 days. But once you land, you’ve only got 30 days to stay - different things.
What Gets Checked at the Border
Officers scan the QR code first. That pulls your record. Then they match passport details to the printed information. Name spelling, passport number, dates - everything needs to line up. Passport expiring within three months of your visa end date? You’re getting turned back.
Here’s what you need to verify in the eVisa Azerbaijan document before flying:
- Passport number matches the visa exactly;
- Your name’s spelled the same way as your passport;
- A passport valid for at least three months past your visa period;
- QR code printed clearly, not cut off;
- Arrival date falls within the validity window.
Single entry means what it says. Leave Azerbaijan, visa is finished. You’ll need a new visa for re-entry if you plan a side trip to Georgia, then back.
Expert Perspective
The eVisa PDF looks simple, but officers check every detail at the border - your name spelling, passport number, QR code. One mistake and you’re getting back. Just print it clearly and make sure everything matches your passport exactly.
